It was July 3, 1975, 50 years ago. The first issue of the Sailing Newspaper came out on newsstands.. My father Mario Oriani told years later how he came up with the idea of founding a newspaper that spoke only of sailing, nothing but sailing.

The idea of publishing such a specialized journal, according to publishing experts a folly, was born in the cockpit of the boat you see above, a Swan 43 named Lunic 2, his boat.
