Fifteen years ago, Seldén revolutionized headsail handling with the introduction of its CX and GX furlers. Today, this innovation continues with the second generation: the CXr series. Designed for Code 0 and Gennaker, the new CXr furlers elevate the sailing experience to the next level, providing more safety, less effort and total control.
The patented ratchet revolution
At the heart of the Seldén CXr’s innovation is the patented ratchet mechanism design, which proactively prevents unintentional sail unfurling, keeping the sail firmly in place even under load and ensuring safety while sailing. In addition, to open the sail, a simple, firm, short pull at the furling line in the desired direction is all that is needed: the drum will instantly disengage, allowing for quick and free unfurling. Those who go to sea know this: furling large sails can be tiring. Thanks to Seldén’s new patent, you can stop at any time, as the mechanism is strong enough to support the sail’s load and resist its twisting, operating automatically in both directions without the need for manual locks.
More ease and new accessories
In addition to the ratchet system, the CXr has been improved to maximize convenience; in fact, a spring-loaded captive pin has been introduced that makes attaching the swivel to the sail a quick and stress-free operation. Along with the CXr series, Seldén is launching a range of essential accessories for any discerning sailor, including: swivel adapters for top-down furling, clevis and pen tablets optimized for Code 0 cableless, and a new line of anti-twist cable terminals.
Where to find Seldén products
The CXr series will have its world premiere at METS in Amsterdam, Nov. 18-20. In Italy, all Seldén products are exclusively distributed by Velamania srl.
