Total audience. In these two magic words lies the secret of our publishing ecosystem, capable of reaching more than one million sealovers, sailing and sea enthusiasts every month. No other “industry” media (what an ugly word!) in Italy does these numbers, and GdV is in the top 3 in the world. How do we do it? We explain it to you in numbers.
What is the monthly total audience of the Sailing Journal
Let’s start by defining what our monthly total audience is and how we measure it. It is the aggregate of contacts reached each month by the content declined on all emanations of Il Giornale della Vela: print/digital magazine, news on www.giornaledellavela.com, social (Instagram, Facebook), video (Youtube), newsletter.

How the monthly total audience of GdV is composed.
The print magazine (our workhorse since 1975) and digital magazine has an average monthly readership of 153,000. Our website www.giornaledellavela.com, visited on average 6,000,000 times a year, reaches 2,529,000 unique users(211,500 per month). On Facebook, 363,000 people per month read GdV content shared on our page (18% of these follow the page, all others, though not followers, view it).
At Instagram – continuously growing with 28,000 followers – people reached by our posts, reels and stories are 125,000 every month. But it doesn’t end there: there are 100,000 of you who are subscribed to our editorial newsletters that we send you every week, and we mustn’t forget about our highly followed Youtube channel, with over 31,700 subscribers and 65,000 people who, every month watch our videos.
Every month, 1,000,000 people read Il Giornale della Vela
So, if math is not an opinion, every month, 1,017,500 sealovers read Il Giornale della Vela, in all its forms. A total audience of which we are proud: because, as we have been fond of repeating since 1975, our greatest asset is you. Once just enthusiasts readers, today also passionate followers. Thank you*!
The staff of Il Giornale della Vela
*And we haven’t told you yet about the most crowded regatta circuit in Italy organized by the Giornale della Vela, the VELA Cup, which in 2025 gathered, in its seven stages in the most beautiful places of our coasts, 500 boats and 10,000 sailors and generating a total audience (paper, digital, web, social, newsletter, video) of more than 100,000 contacts. We will tell you about it soon!
