The VELA Cup of Capo d’Orlando 2025 organized in collaboration with Capo d’Orlando Marina and Saprtivento Yachts & Charter, the last leg of Italy’s busiest regatta circuit that ends right in Sicily in front of the Aeolian Islands in three days, is now very close. More than 40 boats have already registered, in the Cruising Boat (for those participating with just mainsail and jib) and Sport Boat (for those who want to race with all sails) categories. Read below why you can’t miss it and sign up now if you are still undecided!

The Capo d’Orlando Marina, a modern and welcoming base within walking distance of downtown and with more than 500 berths, opens its doors wide for a regatta open to all types of boats, from dinghies to the largest cabin cruisers: all you need is at least 3 meters in length and a desire to have fun. As per the VELA Cup philosophy, no special certificates or experience required beyond the minimum ones for recreational sailing.

The regatta, in the waters off Capo d’Orlando Marina, takes place on Saturday, Oct. 4. Two categories: Sport Boat (for those who are more competitive and like to race with all sails) and Cruising Boat (for those who prefer relaxation and cruising, and want to participate with only mainsail and jib). And that’s not all: special prizes also for Classic Boats, boats over 25 years old! And if you have a Classic Boat registered with the Official Registry, all VELA Cups are free for you! The rankings are drawn up using the new VELA Cup secret fee system, so we’re really all competing on a level playing field!

The VELA Cup awards.

Those participating in the VELA Cup Sicilia can take advantage of free mooring offered by the Capo d’Orlando Marina (subject to availability). The marina applies additional discounted rates for those who want to stay for an additional period. A unique opportunity to be based here and enjoy an off-season cruise to the Aeolian Islands and Sicily. If you are moving from other regions and want to rent a boat here to participate, keep in mind that Capo d’Orlando is easy to reach: from Palermo airport it takes only two hours by train, to reach it and have an off-season swim! And there are prizes for (almost) everyone-not just those who win the regatta at sea-thanks to the VELA Cup partners who provide lots of gadgets (included in the regatta gift bag ) and raffle prizes. And then there’s the official circuit T-shirt!

The route of the regatta

The VELA Cup Sicilia starts in front of Capo d’Orlando Marina, first buoy off Capo d’Orlando and second buoy at the foot of Monte della Madonna. It continues ahead of the coast with buoy at Brolo Rock, last buoy off Capo d’Orlando and finish line in front of Capo d’Orlando Marina. Second reserve option depending on wind direction.

No boat? No problem: You can find boarding on the event’s Facebook page or rent one with Spartivento (a stage partner) by accessing dedicated offers.

If you want to close the season with an unforgettable weekend, REGISTER NOW for the Capo d’Orlando VELA Cup! Only 45 days left: wind, good Sicilian food and sunsets over the Aeolian Islands are waiting for you in the heart of the Mediterranean.
