For only six boats (darn!) we could not title this article, which closes the Procida 2025 VELA Cup leg, “The Incredible Charge of 100.” Yes, because this year there were 94 boats entered in the leg organized by the Giornale della Vela together with the Marina di Procida and the Lega Navale di Procida, from the smallest (the 5.80-meter boat “Janara” of the Associazione Vela Latina Monte di Procida), to the largest (the 22-meter aluminum ketch “Miaplacidus,” a classic masterpiece dating back to 1986).
After the success of the last edition, the VELA Cup returned to the island of Procida being overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of the many crews who decided to register and participate in the regatta. The spirit of the VELA Cup gathered boats from all over the Gulf of Naples, such as the small fleet of friends, composed of four boats, all from Torre del Greco: Arduina, Mauro Vella’s Comet 28 Race; Sea Love, Gennaro Oliviero’s Comet 310; Sogno, Salvatore Sorrentino’s Hanse 312; and Archimede, Alessandro Borrelli’s Harmony 31, who confided to us at the registration stage, “I’ve been an owner for just over a year and I’m looking forward to participating with Archimede in my first VELA Cup.” Here is how the regatta went and who the winners are.

Spectacular route around Procida
After a few days of uncertain weather, which unfortunately frightened some boats from outside to move to Marina di Procida to participate, Saturday morning opened with a light mist that, however, hinted (as it turned out to be) at a sunny summer day in late September. The start of the VELA Cup Procida was given in front of the seaside village of Marina Corricella, with a spectacular backdrop of fishing boats and colorful cottages providing an ideal stage for the 73 boats that crossed the start line.
In the light wind, a few boats managed to break away from the “bunch” and take the lead in the race, but most of the boats remained battling side by side for almost the entire duration of the race, providing a not inconsiderable glimpse of the many boats of onlookers who approached the race course.
As we also ranked the boats that arrived out of time
The course of the VELA Cup Procida included a half-moon passing south of the island, going up after theIsland of Vivara and passing in front of Chiaiolella beach and then taking the same reverse course once the buoy had been turned, and returning in front of Corricella Bay. The committee took into account the weather conditions-which in the meantime had seen a sunny day explode in the sky, but with little wind at sea-and decided to adopt a kind of “penalty” to include in the ranking even those boats that did not finish the full course of the regatta.
Those who passed the first mark but not the second mark were ranked 3 hours behind the actual time. This made it possible to draw up a ranking that considers
The winners of the VELA Cup Procida
Winning the VELA Cup Procida 2025 was Giuseppe Osci and Riccardo Calcagni’s Beneteau First 40 “Nientemale” entered in the Sport Boat category, which is also the boat that crossed the finish line first in real time, while in the Cruising Boat class the first place winner was“Liberamente 4,” Marcello Elia’s Italia Yachts 13.98.
Crowded was the Classic Boat ranking, reserved for boats at least 25 years old, where the “oldest” boat among those who participated in the regatta was Francesco Paolo Storti’s Sangermani Sloop “Ala di sogno.” The best placed boat, however, was Marco Calcagni’s Farr 30 “Farr ‘e Night,” entered in the Sport Boat category.

But who is the winner of the VELA Cup Procida? According to our rankings, which we remind you are drawn up in compensated time according to the VELA Cup rating and take into account the 3-hour “penalty” for those who passed only the first buoy, it is indeed the Beneteau First 40 “Nientemale” of Giuseppe Osci and Riccardo Calcagni.
To find out who all the other winners are, divided by 7 classes in the Cruising Boat category and 3 classes in the Sport Boat category, just click on the link below.

At the VELA Cup Procida 2025, the festive atmosphere on land and at sea was enriched this year thanks to the special participation of Blue Dream Charter boats, protagonists together with Africa Mission in the solidarity initiative “Regatiamo per l’Africa.” For years, this collaboration has been advancing the construction of wells for drinking water in northern Uganda, and also in 2025 the solidarity regatta found its place within the VELA Cup, involving numerous crews and raising more than 9 thousand euros to be used for the construction of a well.
On the VELA Cup stage, Antonio Scotta Di Perta and the Blue Dream Charter team awarded:
- White & Vanilla (ex aequo)
- Happy Meal
- Margo
