Sun 2000

Small, compact, exceptional. Three words to best describe 7 boats that, combined in size, we believe are absolute must-have gems-both for culture and for potential purchase. In fact, in this our review of the great Classic Boats of the past, today we focus on 7 little gems. Small, yes, but not in spirit.

Classic Boat Cult | 6 meters overall: agile, compact and exceptional

After the review on the mythical 10 meters (here e here), it is indeed time to look to the 6 meters, boats that are often underestimated but absolutely sublime. Certainly they will offer different comforts and uses, but at the same time they are the only ones that can give us so much more satisfaction-both on the fun and use front, as well as on the fronts of ease of maintenance and cost savings (because, as much as we may not like it, that wants its attention, too). So here are 7 masterpieces for all tastes between 6 and 6.86 meti long.

Meteor | 6.00 m

Sipla (Comar); 6 x 2.13 m; 1968; Van de Stadt

We start with a hull that is nothing short of exceptional, an experience almost more unique than rare. It is, of course, the big-small Meteor, the phenomenal six-meter commissioned by Sipla from Van De Stadt in the late 1960s. Few boats, it can be said, were ever so spot-on. And the numbers bear this out. To this day, it not only boasts circuits that are still active, but is still in production. Credit for this miracle of engineering goes to a timeless design, a recipe that makes ease of use and satisfaction its strongest components. Eternal, manageable, and fun, the Meteor is an icon of sailing and, among other things, the best Classic Boat for any beginner, just as it remains as valid for even the most seasoned sailors. Cult. Find out about her every detail and market values by consulting her dedicated fact sheet, found in the Comar Archives of the Classic Boat Club.

Felci; 6.50 x 2.7 m; 1996; Felci Yacht Design

In 1996 we find the very young Italian designer Felci landing at the legendary Mini Transat, the realm of the French. Here, these arrives with the Té Salt, a small six and a half meters ready to turn out to be a masterpiece. Fast, innovative, and full of original solutions, the hull is immediately a success. Thus was born the production version, CR, launched in as many as 35 examples. Amnesty International
, revealing the project as a great success. Fast and versatile, it will immediately be offered in a small series of 25 hulls. It will become 124 with the second series. Thus was born the Pogo 6.50, one of the best-known designs on the 1990s Mini Transat front. Today, many of these still sail, and while they may certainly be less competitive than their modern counterparts, nonetheless many are seen sailing, if only for the sheer pleasure of it. For that matter, little comfort aside, it goes everywhere. SYLPHE | 6.52 m

Dufour; 6.52 x 2.41 m; 1964; Michel Dufour

We are going just a few years before the canonical birth of the great series, but the designer of this hull was its true pioneer, and, the Sylphe, too, will therefore be made, thus rightfully falling into our list. Not least because the Sylphe is an indispensable piece of nautical history: it is Michel Dufour’s first creature, even before the legendary Arpége. Dufour built it for himself and raced it, but the design immediately shocked in innovation and conception. It is the birth of a myth; everyone wants it. Dufour will sell 400 of them, starting the shipyard of the same name. Small, nimble, and cabin cruiser, it was a revolution in the boating world, introducing new volumes and shapes and, most importantly, lowering costs through fiberglass. Find out its every detail and market values by consulting its dedicated fact sheet, you can find it in the Dufour archives of the Classic Boat Club.
