With the advent of the new 415 due at the upcoming Cannes Boat Show, French shipyard Jeanneau raises the curtain on the ninth generation of the Sun Odyssey lineage, the family of sailboats devoted to cruising.
The ninth generation of Sun Odyssey begins with the 415
Designed by the Marc Lombard Design Team in collaboration with Jean Marc Piaton Yacht Design, the Sun Odyssey 415 is the first boat in the ninth generation of boats that have made Jeanneau shipyard famous worldwide. The angular yet elegant exterior lines along with the revised interior layout will be the new features aboard the new Sun Odyssey starting with the 415. The hull of the Sun Odyssey 415 is derived directly from the proven 410 and features an inverted bow, raised wheel foot and continuous sharp edge to the bow, combining power and elegance. Designed for family cruising, it delivers high performance and precise, stable handling, thanks to the twin rudder blades on self-aligning bearings, a system that allows for friction-free misalignment and axial movement internally. Reduced displacement, combined with increased sail area, further contributes to the performance of this new 13-meter yacht. The Sun Odyssey 415 will be available with four sail plan configurations and three keel or daggerboard options, in a way that accommodates owners’ varying sailing needs.
A boat designed for sailing
The deck plan is streamlined and redesigned to optimize movement aboard with the walkarounds free of all obstructions and steps, so as not to impede passage to the bow and maneuvering at the winches. The double leather-clad helm wheel is set far back, immediately abutting the folding aft platform, useful for transshipments and as a bathing platform. Also in the aft area, there is space for a fold-down table for convivial moments on board.
Theenvironment below deck provides a completely revised interior layout compared to the previous version; going down three steps an L-shaped kitchen is positioned at the bottom of the staircase and a square designed with comfort and functionality in mind will accommodate up to five guests on board. The chart table, oriented in the direction of navigation and designed for two people, integrates all the technical interfaces needed to manage the boat. The below-deck environment of the new 415 is very bright, thanks to the many windows in the broadside and on the deckhouse, which allow plenty of natural light to filter inside. There can be up to three cabins: two doubles in the stern with external bathroom and master in the bow with or without en-suite bathroom, or you can choose the double cabin configuration (master in the bow and double in the stern) with only one bathroom on board.
