It is indeed true that certain loves never end, like that of Enrico Chieffi, CEO of Slam and before that manager of reference for Nautor Swan, for the Star class. In Marina di Carrara, in the very waters where with his brother Tommaso he approached sailing, Enrico Chieffi scored, with bowman Nando Colaninno, his umpteenth victory in Star, the European title.
European Star: Chieffi-Colaninno uncatchable
Inspired by the light wind in the Carrara waters, Chieffi and Colaninno set a fast pace in the races, with a score of 3-2-2-4-1-5 that made the final race unnecessary given the advantage they had accumulated in the standings. All in conditions that were not easy, with several races held in rather light winds. This was yet another title collected by Chieffi, who had already been European champions in 2021, and multiple Italian champions.
WHO IS ENRICO CHIEFFI
He started with his brother Tommaso and with the 470 class he won the 1979, 1980 and 1982 Italian Championships and the European Championship in 1981, participated in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics in 1984 by finishing fifth and won the World Championship in 1985 in his home waters in Marina di Carrara.
He was tactician of the Moro di Venezia for the 1992 America’s Cup challenge, with which he won the Louis Vuitton Cup selection race and then participated in the challenge against America³ winning a race (the Moro di Venezia is the only Italian boat to have won a race in the America’s Cup).
He won the Star class world championship in 1996,[1] with bowman Robertino Sinibaldi and participated in the Atlanta Olympics (race course in Savannah) finishing sixth.
