From the collaboration between Denmark and Italy comes an innovation destined to make its mark on the one-design racing scene: the KiSS25, a 25-foot-long racing boat made entirely of carbon fiber and designed to be an ultimate racing weapon. It is designed by the young Danish yard KISS Yachting and will be officially unveiled in 2026, with the stated goal of giving birth to a new, accessible, pure performance-oriented international class.
Carbon and precision: the design philosophy
The project was born in Copenhagen, but takes shape in Italy thanks to a partnership with Neo Yachts & Composites, a company well known in the world of offshore racing and grand prix for excellence in composite processing. Each KiSS25 is built with vacuum infusion of carbon on all structural parts (hull, rudder, mast and bowsprit), thus ensuring rigidity, lightness and durability. All of this results in a boat that requires no post-sale optimization-everything is ready and “stretched to the max” for racing.
Professional racing standard equipment
The KiSS25 comes, in fact, already complete with everything needed to compete at a high level, with no need for aftermarket upgrades. Standard equipment includes the Pauger Carbon mast (as on IMOCAs, just saying…),Harken’s signature deck gearand a Cyclops Smarttune sensor for forestay tension monitoring, to name a few. Everything is already included on a plug-and-play basis: you rig and race, no time wasted.
Numbers and technical characteristics
With a hull length of 7.62 meters (9.43 m with bowsprit), a beam of 2.5 m and a displacement of less than 750 kg, the KiSS25 is designed to plane easily and react readily to adjustments. The sail plan is respectable: the fathead-cut mainsail, as on most racing boats is 21.9 m², the gennaker 66.4 m², and there is the option of fitting a 41.5 m² code zero. Among the technical solutions, those to be absolutely mentioned are the rudder with a carbon blade that is as removable as the keel, free-standing broadside for sailing “with feet out” to balance the weights, and a quick headsail recovery system.
A new international, sporty and inclusive classroom
The KiSS25 is designed for crews of 3 to 5 people, and, according to the designers, crucial will be weight management on board, physical preparation, and synergy among crew members. The future international class will be supported by a dedicated association, which will take care of the rules, sail limit and divisions between professional and Corinthian racers to ensure equal access to all levels.
Integration with systems such as RaceSense and the sharing of race data aim to create a learning environment that is both collective and competitive, but always with a passion for sailing as the lowest common denominator. The philosophy of the project is clear: no tuning, no compromise, just racing. All boats are identical to each other and ready to use, to ensure technical competitions where crew, tactics and maneuvering skills will make the difference.
