It is in Negrar di Valpolicella (VR) the headquarters of Riolfi & Pighi, a shipyard that has in production the first example of the Meraki 40, a boat designed for sailing by those who know how to sail.
Meraki 40, made to travel the world
It is from the union of the seafaring wisdom of Emanuele Riolfi, a skipper with many miles behind him, andEngineer Valerio Pighi that the project of a boat designed for those who love to sail was born: its name is Meraki 40. The boat was designed by a young designer, Mattia Anghileri, who went along with the wishes of the two creators, namely to create a livable and ergonomic boat. The design of the deckhouse, for example, is very unique and allows for complete habitability of the area, as well as the cockpit area will remain completely unobstructed while sailing, because the shipyard has patented a special fold-down table.
The hull, made entirely of aluminum, has hull lines made to run fast: a maximum speed of 11 or 12 knots is estimated. The shipyard’s idea is to give its owners a boat that is safe in the middle of the sea and that can cope with any sea state; the high thicknessesof the materials used (thinking about the resistance to impact with semi-submerged objects such as a container), the bow wheel machined from solid and the watertight lockers are further proof of Riolfi & Pighi to create a boat that is safe first and foremost, to the point that during the RINA certification, inspectors ironically called the boat “a blockbreaker” in terms of strength.
Construction quality at the highest level
Meraki 40 is an uncompromising boat in terms of the quality of materials used (Selden, Antal, Listone Giordano to name a few brands on board) and comfort, designed to stay as far away from ports as possible and travel miles. Aesthetically, the boat is untouchable and only one of the 3 color combinations provided can be chosen; everything else is largely customizable and the shipyard imposes no constraints.
Below deck, the configurations thought of are 3: coastal (3 cabins and 2 bathrooms), oceanic (2 cabins and 1 bathroom) or custom (owner’s free choice). Thinking of the Meraki 40 as a globetrotting boat, Riolfi & Pighi looked for carpentry and materials that can be found anywhere on the globe, so that the boat can be repaired wherever you are and without waiting too long to receive materials from Italy. A special construction feature of the boat is its readiness for all of the systems and options provided by the shipyard; it will be possible, for example, to fit the folding keel at a later date or add the particular system without upsetting the boat.
The starting price of the Riolfi & Pighi Meraki 40 is 545,000 euros, and the stage for the presentation of hull number 1 will be the 2026 edition of the Venice Fair; those who want to, can go to the shipyard to see the prototype of the boat and the first hull in production.
