Jonica 130, here’s who won the first edition of a future super classic

Starting from Porto degli Argonauti in Marina di Pisticci (MT) and ending in Taranto, it was a successful first edition for the Jonica 130, a new regatta that promises to become an important event on the calendar for the coming seasons.
After the start, the boats of followed a coastal course with four predetermined gates, making the regatta enjoyable even from land. The first major stop was Taranto, with a parade in front of the Ponte Girevole and the city waterfront; then course to Campomarino di Maruggio, where the second gate offered a natural grandstand to the public.
Jonica 130 – The Winners
Overall victory in the first edition went to Leone Pellè’s X-35 X-Lion of LNI Taranto, second place to Andrea Milizia’s Farr 39 Flash, and third to Marco Andrisano’s Dufour 40 P Soft.
Distinctive features of the Jonica 130 include high visibility from the coast, allowing spectators, tourists and onlookers to follow the competition in real time from beaches, waterfronts and vantage points. The Jonica 130 is open to all sailing boats over 8 meters, including multihulls (catamarans and trimarans), with categorization designed to ensure fairness and competitiveness. The event welcomes both experienced crews and amateur sailors.
With its inclusive formula, scenic course and participation open to all levels of experience, the Jonica 130 aims to become a reference point for offshore sailing in Southern Italy, with potential in the international arena as well. The combination of competition and convivial spirit, enhancement of the territory and attention to sustainability make this regatta an event destined to grow over time.
