The Region of Croatia is a unique destination close to Italy for those arriving on a sailing cruise
Kvarner, the beautiful region of Croatia very close to Italy is one of the best destinations to visit by boat, even according to the indications of the very famous Lonely Planet travel guides. Kvarner in fact is a magnificent mix of many destinations, all beautiful and unique: therefore it has always been considered one of the top three tourist regions for Italians in Croatia. Thanks to its geographic location but especially to the beauty of the coastal areas of Opatija (Opatija), Rijeka (Rijeka), Crikvenica and Novi Vinodolski, the islands of Krk (Krk), Rab (Rab), Cres (Cres) and Lošinj (Lošinj), not to mention the mountainous massif Gorski Kotar. With all these beauties, Kvarner is a unique combination of beaches, bays, islands, nature, and mountains: from the vast expanses of maritime pines that go almost all the way to the sea, it creates that striking green-blue-blue color scheme that characterizes all of Kvarner. A region, however, that is not only famous for sailing and the sea, but also because it offers excellent gastronomy and excellent wines, with a quality-price ratio that is always unbeatable. Although there is no shortage of starred restaurants and there are numerous mentions in the prestigious Gault & Millau guide. Along with scampi and seafood, this region boasts excellent olive oil and special wine production, with numerous native grape varieties also grown on the islands. In addition, the mountainous hinterland offers forest first fruits such as mushrooms and red fruits, without underestimating the rivers with their freshwater fish. It is therefore no coincidence that in 2026 Kvarner will be the European Region of Gastronomy.

Named the European Region of Gastronomy 2026, Kvarner has a unique local gastronomic tradition that combines tasty local dishes with excellent wines. Not to mention tasting its world-famous food products in Kvarner, but also visiting typical wine and food locations and participating in culinary festivals.
