The post-Covid sailing boom is now behind us, and boating is experiencing an interlude phase that nevertheless is not stopping yards from producing numerous new products.
Our editorial staff beat the length and breadth of Italian and international docks and shipyards on the hunt for projects, newly presented or launched boats, to snap a picture of the 2025 that awaits us. But not only that, our radar is always on, and not only on boat shows, because other major shipyards that were not physically present at the recent Boot in Dusseldorf also have their new products on the launch pad, which will then arrive in turn between next spring and fall.
After the “little ones” from 7 to 11 meters, here is a review of 5 others, continuing with the middle metric range, from 11 to 15 meters.
11.38 m – Lagoon 38 / Lagoon Catamarans
The new Lagoon 38 will offer exceptional liveability due to the new hull shape. Compared to the old Lagoon 40, first, the two floats are less tapered at the bow, offering more interior volume. The second most noticeable change is the advancement of the mast towards the bow, a solution already seen on Lagoon 43 and 60. DISCOVER MORE.
Data: overall length 11.38 m, width 6.65 m, draft 1.26 m, displacement 10,240 kg, sail area 77.7 sq. m. www.catamarans-lagoon.com
12.75 m – XR 41 / X-Yachts
A boat with few compromises, this has long been demanded by a part of X-Yachts’ clientele, those loyal to the yard’s sports boats that have made its history even in racing. 13.26 m – Fountaine Pajot 44 / Fountaine Pajot
The first new feature is a choice that the French shipyard has already made on its entire range-the New 44 is available with the ODSea+ electric motor and solar panels up to 2,000 W. Then there are aesthetic improvements that Berret-Racoupeau Design has come up with for the successor to the Helia 44: the enlarged deckhouse, the deckhouse trestle that is now inverted, the hull portholes highlighted by a rib, and the step above the waterline. 13.52 m – Heyman 42 / Heyman Yachts
The Heyman 42 is an out-of-the-ordinary Pilot House-style boat, with somewhat retro lines and distinctive waterline solutions. One of the key points of the design, however, is the deckhouse, which it would be more correct to describe almost as a pilot house, a stunning full-glass deckhouse. Very particular is the choice for the keel. The shipyard’s idea is that this can be to be able to sail anywhere from the northern seas to coral reefs, a hull suitable even for shallow waters is needed, optional telescopic version with more draft. Placed on a very high end of the market, the brand’s flagship is the debut cruiser from a yard that was, and is, one of the leaders in the daysailer and weekender market.
