The American Catalina shipyard is a cult brand for those who love cruisers with classic, almost retro lines. Recently, the shipyard has begun a gradual rejuvenation of the range with the “6” Series, of which the new Catalina 356 is a part. A classic V-shaped hull, with a generous but not extreme beam, a sheltered cockpit and quality interior.
Catalina 356, what a boat it is

The Catalina 356, part of the new 6 Series, but the American shipyard is not in the habit of making revolutions, so it has set its sights on a cruising boat faithful to traditional Catalina craftsmanship. With its sleek lines, spacious cockpit, and contemporary interior, the 356 offers comfort and build quality rarely found in a large series boat.
Compared to previous models in hull construction the novelty is carbon reinforcements, windows have been redesigned, a watertight collision bulkhead with “Strike Zone” has been added below the waterline. The boat otherwise is presented already in its basic version practically super-equipped and ready to sail.
Aesthetically, she impresses with her totally retro lines, made up of large bow and stern rakes, a generous maximum beam but not very set back (as is common on current cruisers). The stern has a distinctive shape, hollowed out and with a step that comes to the surface of the water to allow a comfortable descent into the water. Overall, these are what we usually refer to as “out-of-the-chorus boats,” which do not follow trends but remain true to the shipyard’s tradition.
