Trentino sailor Cecilia Zorzi, 31, has officially qualified for the Mini Transat 2025, after completing the mandatory miles required by the regulations, with her Mini 650 Eki in the Series category.
So an Italian woman returns to the Mini Transat, the last to take part was Susanne Beyer on Penelope in 2011, now Zorzi, after a career divided between Olympic classes (especially Laser and Nacra 17) and offshore sailing. The first leg of the regatta, from Les Sables d’Olonne to La Palma (Canary Islands), will start on Sept. 21, while the second leg with destination Saint-François (Guadeloupe) will start on Oct. 25.
Cecilia Zorzi, a profile of a super sailor
Cecilia Zorzi in recent years has been devoting herself intensively to the Mini 650, taking part in several regattas in Italy and abroad, alternating this activity with other regattas always offshore, such as her experiences, and victories, in Figaro 3 at the Pink Ribbon Tour and participation in The Ocean Race with Team Genova. For her technical background, a mix of Olympic and offshore sailing, Zorzi has a very interesting profile, to be followed with great attention in this Transat.
Before the September appointment, Cecilia Zorzi will also be part of Team Django, the Italian team that will take part in the next Admiral’s Cup, from July 17 to 31, next, a last training before the Mini Transat.
