A fleet of hundreds of Ilca lasers is preparing to invade Liguria. It cannot be called otherwise what, from March 13-16, will invade the waterfront areas and crowd the Gulf of Imperia with white sails for the third fraction of the EurILCA Europa Cup 2025.
ILCA Europa Cul Imperia
A huge fleet of Ilca 4, 6 and 7 never before appeared in the waters of the Ponentine capital that the Imperia Yacht Club together with the Porto Maurizio Yacht Club and the Circolo Nautico Andora, will have to “manage” with the utmost efficiency for this first and only event in Italian waters out of the twelve scheduled.
The fleet consists of sailors from 23 different countries who will find shelter ashore in logistically convenient areas for launching while at sea they will be divided into two race courses managed by twenty-five Race Officials and supported by over seventy dinghies. The race course in the Gulf of Imperia is normally capable of not betraying the expectations of the sailors who, in this season, should find winds usually divided between the easterly in the morning and the dominance of the westerly in the afternoon hours guaranteeing, however, the regularity of the trials.
And this is precisely the most present concern for the organizing club. “We have the responsibility of the most important event organized by the Imperia Yacht Club,” says President Biagio Parlatore, “and we are proud to have been chosen by EurILCa: we trust in the favor of the weather conditions to be able to give the starts to all the scheduled trials, over the years, even and especially in the winter months, we have already experienced and tested our reception, at sea and on land, for the training of many national and European teams in a marine area graced by positive weather situations.
