ORC Sportboat European Championship, boats admitted
The ORC Sportboat European Championship is open to all sailboats between 6 and 9.15 meters in length, with a displacement of less than 2,000 kilos and a displacement-to-length ratio of less than 6.66. This means that the event can accommodate fast and light monohulls, whether one off or production – Fat 26, Delta 84, ILC 25 and others – and examples of the main one-design classes – Melges 24, J-70, RS21, Esse 850, SB20, Este 24, Platu 25 and others – by racing them on a handicap basis thanks to the calculation system developed by the ORC.
There are many classes that have participated in previous editions of the European Sportboat Championships, many of which are regulars on Garda waters: Dolphin 81, Protagonist, Blu Sail 24, UFO 22 and UFO 28, Surprise, Fun and even the J-24s.
To participate, remember, it is necessary to be in possession of a certificate issued by the ORC for the year 2025; in the case of hulls conforming to their own one design rule, this can be issued on the basis of the International One Design Certificate published by the ORC. Those who need to tune up will be able to do so directly on Lake Garda: in fact, ORC tune-ups will be present on the Benaco already during the coming weeks and in Torbole on the days leading up to the event.
