Outremer 48

Inspired by the iconic Outremer 45, the French shipyard’s new sport catamaran, the Outremer 48, is the next step in the evolution of the range. The design was born based on feedback from owners and thousands of miles traveled across the world’s oceans in recent years. The water lines are by VPLP Design, a design studio that also specializes in sports multihulls as well as ocean racing boats; the overall interior design is by Patrick Le Quément and Darnet Design.

Outremer 48 – What a catamaran it is

Wheelhouse

The deckhouse of the Outremer 48 offers 360-degree visibility from both the salon and the cockpit, the latter of which is totally sheltered by a hard cover on which a battery of solar panels is installed to increase the catamaran’s energy autonomy. The full-glass deckhouse also offers the possibility of being able to take turns on watch from the chart table inside.

The catamaran is designed to be a semi-custom, particularly in terms of the interior. To best meet the owners’ expectations, Outremer has created a versatile space called My Free Space. Located in the port forward cabin, this area can be customized in numerous ways: a single, double or triple cabin, a convertible office with bunk beds, a dressing room or a children’s cabin.

Wide sail plan with square top mainsail, the boom is low enough to allow easy access to the sail when lowering. The two helmsmen are in a fairly outboard, and elevated, position to promote visibility to the bow and on the sails. Maneuvering is organized with 4 winches, two on each side, located near the helmsman’s station. As on all modern Outremers there are two side drifts with adjustable draft.
