Oyster, 5 exceptional hulls from 11 to 20 meters
Originally founded in 1973, the British yard was born with Richard Matthews, who put Holman & Pye’s UFO 34 into production. A series of good starter hulls would follow, up to the excellent 37- and 41-footers of the late decade. The start of a legend. Then, with the 1980s, the transition to deck-saloons and bluewater, giving the LA to the myth of today.
Oyster 37
specifications: 11.28 x 3.68 m; 1978-1981; #40; Holman & Pye
Hull of princes, the Oyster 37 was one of the yard’s great classics. An extremely high-performing one-tonner, she would make her mark right from her debut year, placing third at Cowes Week 1978. Particularly starry-eyed, with a wide beam just set back, she is in fact a boat capable not only of good pace but also of taking challenging seas, offering comfort in all cases, thanks to large interior volumes. Flat deckhouse and almost flush deck add to the package, making her pleasing to the eye as well.

The British shipyard was not long in the making, and already with the 37-footer of ’78 it was able to make its mark. In 1980 it decided to venture into the world of the big boys. Thus was born, signed by Jones, a splendid Cruiser-Racer, heavily influenced by IOR rules and capable of giving great surprises. It is the Oyster 41, characterized by a semi-flush deck and an unusually wide stern. It will be produced in 27 examples, from 1980 to 1987, already demonstrating the proverbial Oyster quality.

specifications: 19.30 x 5.40 m; 2000-N/A; #N/A; Rob Humphreys & Oyster Design
Son of 2000, to tackle the Oyster 62 it is convenient to let the numbers speak for themselves. It is, in fact, a true globetrotter, an exceptional hull, capable of putting as many as 200 miles under the keel in a single day. And that is no small feat. With the 62 Humphreys signs a jewel, a hull made to live aboard, to go anywhere, and to do it not only with class, but also in a sporty way.
