The Dusseldorf Boot historically is a boat show where boats under 10 meters also find space. In fact, Beneteau has chosen the German fair to launch the new First 30 Manuard/Argento, a boat that marks the French giant’s return to the 9-meter size that has brought so much luck to the yard with iconic models such as the First 31.7. The newcomer is a boat designed for sport sailing, offshore racing and small cruising, presented at an attractive starting price, not low but still appealing, as we tell you in our onboard video.
FIRST 30 – The Video
The design of the First 30
The design features a hull with an aft edge that goes out almost immediately, and slightly V-shaped bow exits, fine but not too fine, with an aesthetic that is partly reminiscent of that of the First 36, but also winks at the smaller models in the range, derived from Seascape and also designed by Manuard. Interestingly, the width has been contained to 2.95 m, which would not penalize her too much in light wind upwind, although the maximum beam seems quite set back and at the stern the boat does not go narrow. In general, however, it would seem to be a hull that is more oriented to carrying swells. For possible racing use, given the small-open shape and double rudder, one can imagine a prevalent use in offshore and coastal racing rather than between the buoys, as the First 36 has also proven to do well. No details of the interior have been released at the moment, which in the shipyard’s intentions will in any case be functional for small cruises.
