If there is one trade show where it is often possible to see sailboats of this size this is the Boot in Düsseldorf, an ideal union point between the Mediterranean and northern European markets. Among the offerings at the 2025 edition that has just begun is that of TriCat‘s Breton shipyard , which is showing the Tricat 6.90 in Germany and will provide some previews of the next model, the Tricat 8.50.
Tricat 6.90, which trimaran is
Trailerable, foldable with a width that goes from 4.60 meters to 2.45, a displacement of around 800 kg, and a sail area that goes up to 32 sq. m. upwind. A proposition for coastal sailing, sport sailing and, why not, small nautical camping-style cruises. In fact, inside the Tricat 6.90 there is room for a small table, a camping kitchen and 3-4 berths. The sail plan includes a Square top mainsail and a low overlap jib that is easy to maneuver in the turns, the TriCat 6.90 also has side daggerboards with drafts from 0.28 cm to 1.20 m. In the stern, the maximum gennaker area provided is 34 sq m. Thanks to the reduced draft with the drifts up, the TriCat also becomes a kind of large beach dinghy if necessary, in short a versatile craft at a cost of just over 60 thousand euros, making it an out-of-the-box proposition for those looking for something different than the classic large series boat.
