Najad 361 – 11.20 m – Comfortable, safe, quality
The first of the used boats we offer for sale on our marketplace is a real connoisseur. We are talking about a Najad 361 (11.20 x 3.50 m).
Karlsson design for the Swedish yard, famous for its high-quality long-range cruising yachts, remained in production from 1994 to 2001. Deck and gunwale are teak as standard, interior is solid fine mahogany. The height below deck is as much as 1.92 m, the galley has a development of as much as 2.35 m, and serve to convey the convenience that characterizes this boat. Three cabins and two bathrooms.
The model for sale, visible at is from 1999 (CE/Germanischer Lloyd approval). She is sold by a private individual (and therefore without commission) who has been the current owner since 2008. Boat known for her marinade and sturdiness qualities as well as high quality and level of finish and equipment. The boat is now ashore for winter storage and will be launched in February ready to sail.
Elan 37 – 11.33 m – A very successful boat
We continue with the second of the used boats. Just think, in a poll we had asked what was the most successful boat of the early 2000s, and it was theElan 37 (11.33 x 3.65 m) that won.
Named, in 2003, to replace the 36 and 362, the Elan 37 is a fine design by Rob Humphreys (in production from 2003 to 2008) that is fast and without excess, in a word marine. You can see this in the docility with which it tackles waves, even when the boat is heeled over. The construction is innovative with the infusion system, which provides strength and durability with less weight. On deck, note the open stern with removable bench seat and a rudder wheel as large as 150 cm in diameter. Interior planned with two or three cabins. The saloon has a dinette with facing sofas, the largest describing a C that contours the table. On either side of the downdraft, the galley and chart room is on the right, and a large toilet room is on the left. The boat for sale, visible in Marina di Ravenna, is from 2004 and is maniacally maintained, both externally and below deck. Equipped with every convenience, she has participated only in club regattas.
Swan 38 – 11.66 m – Classic boat of excellence
The third of the used boats we analyze is a historic Classic Boat by Giornale della Vela, thus destined to increase in value over time. It is a Swan 38 (11.66 x 3.52 m).
Big bow momentum, narrow stern, forward maximum beam, a deckhouse with a blue line. This is the Swan 38, one of the last designs by the New York firm Sparkman & Stephens, conceived for the racing rule then in vogue, the IOR. It was produced from 1974 to 1980 in 116 examples. The boat is beautiful for those who like classic lines, narrow sterns, and don’t mind if the interior is a bit sacrificed compared to the size of the boat. Under sail, she passes over the wave smoothly, even if the sea is formed, and in upwind gaits it is a pleasure to feel her come up the wind at prohibitive angles without losing speed. Top-notch construction and finish. The Swan 38 for sale can be seen on Elba Island, is from 1974 and has always been perfectly maintained and philologically refitted.
Grand Soleil 42 – 12.65 m – Bestseller by Cantiere Del Pardo
Let’s move on with the fourth of the used boats on our marketplace. This is also a historic Classic boat by GdV: a Grand Soleil 42 (12.65 x 4.05 m) is looking for a new owner.
It is designed by Frers with interior design collaboration from Roseo. The 9000 kg displacement and full hull lines not only provide considerable interior volume, but also make sailing upwind comfortable and increase stowage possibilities. These are characteristics that indicate priority to the cruise destination.
There is a two-cabin version (with the refined dinette and an aft master stateroom, which has little to envy from a 50-footer. In addition, another large cabin in the bow. Both are equipped with toilets) and the three-cabin version. In production from 1988 to 1997, about 130 were launched.
The model we offer is from 1990, visible in Sardinia, accessorized and in the three-cabin version.
Comet 41 S – 12.74 m – Vallicelli’s missile
We close with the fifth and last of the boats used in the review. If you like to “race” under sail, this is the model for you. We are talking about a Comet 41 S (12.74 x 3.92 m), a Vallicelli design in production since 2006.
Competitive on the race courses, this 12-and-a-half-footer also features a sleek aesthetic and comfortable cruising interior. The hull has fairly rounded center sections, with significant maximum beam and very thin entrances. At the engine, the submerged volumes are filled with a “bustle” that, by raising the value of the prismatic coefficient, makes it possible to maintain a proper trim even with the weights embarked at cruise. The deck is characterized by rounded shapes and extremely clean maneuvers. Below deck, the rooms have the right measurements to be well livable. The used boat, visible at the port of Rome, is in excellent condition and was launched in 2007.
