New year, new Classic Boats: here come the ‘Class 2000s’. We open the year on the ‘classic’ front by talking about those early 21st-century designs that, in the next 12 months, will turn a full 25 years since their first launch, thus classifying themselves as Classic Boats. From these, we have selected 20 mass-built, fiberglass models that, now, become classifiable as having historical value. This adds 20 Classic Boats to the 300+ already surveyed by our editorial staff (you can find them HERE). And their value increases…
Class 2000 – 5 early 21st century Classic Boats from 6.6 to 10.9 meters
Do they increase in value? Yes, and we are not talking about an emotional value. Rather, we are talking about a real increase in their value, a value they deserve because of their characteristics of innovation, beauty, quality, and performance. There are, in fact, boats that are worth more than others and will be worth even more over time. We have talked about them many times by now, these are the Classic Boats by Giornale della Vela, boats built in fiberglass and in series since 1967, with a minimum of 25 years on their shoulders, and selected on the basis of very specific canons, which transcend the age of the artifact and focus on the intrinsic historical value, starting with the overall design qualities and the originality of the boat in its context. Looking back to 2000, here are the top 5 Classic Boats from 6.6 to 10.9 meters.

SUN 2000
Jeanneau; 6.63 x 2.54 m; 2000; Olivier Petit She is the quintessential dayboat of the 2000s, a Spartan weekender with some forcing, she is the Sun 2000, an underrated hull but loaded with potential. Small, trailerable, with a tilting drift and still with a well-organized interior and enough amenities, the Sun 2000 is the hull for those who want to go boating without frills, without demands. From the lake, from the harbor, from the beach, it is unstoppable and single-handed. In short, for the everyday, it has it all.

HANSE 311
Hanse Yachts; 8.99 x 3.20 m; 2000-2006; Judel/Vrolijk Judel/Vrolijk join forces with Hanse to achieve a specific goal: to imprint the line even more toward cruising. To this end, the year 2000 saw the birth of a small 9-meter dedicated to this: light displacement, fractional rigging and a bright, spacious interior available in several variants. The Hanse 311 succeeds in its intent: it is the ideal hull for those approaching the world of cabin cruisers, agile, manageable and compact. Not for nothing, boat of the year 2001.

BAVARIA 32
Bavaria; 10.3 x 3.35 m; 2000-2005; J&J As the new millennium opens, Bavaria Yachts remains true to its core concept: making hulls suitable for family cruising, its well-established strength. Designed by J&J, in 2000 it thus launched the Bavaria 32, a 10.3-meter perfect for the purpose and, above all, with surprising marine qualities. Limited slack, high freeboard and moderate displacement make it a docile, easily manageable boat, while the voluminous interior surprises.

BAVARIA CRUISER 34
Bavaria; 10.71 x 3.60 m; 2000-2009; J&J The German shipyard’s purpose is always the same: to design and build hulls suitable for family cruising, boats that are easy to carry, manageable with a small crew and comfortable for life on board. Thus was born, in 2000, the Bavaria Cruiser 34, signed by J&J, a 10.7-meter hull that does exactly that. It is a comfortable, seaworthy boat designed precisely for those who simply want to sail in serenity, without pretension. In that sense, apt.

FIRST 36.7
Beneteau; 10.90 x 3.45 m; 2000-2021; #800; Farr Yacht Design Riding the wave of success of the first 31.7 (1998), designed by Groupe Finot based on the lines of the Figaro, in 2000 Beneteau tried again and contacted Farr. A 10.9 m hull was born that looks to hybridize racing and cruising. The lines are powerful, the hull is optimized according to IMS and IRC canons, and the forward profiles are very thin, with a wide aft beam. A marriage that works in both fields of interest. It is a success story of 800 examples: the First 36.7.
