ARC, the Atlantic rally for cruisers, is heading into its closing stages with the last part of the fleet arriving in St. Lucia, Caribbean. An edition that was marked by the disappearance of Dag Eresund, 33, from Sweden, who was lost at sea. An ARC that, however, smiled on the Italian crews, present in good numbers, who achieved significant results.
ARC 2024 – What a celebration for Italian boats.
Jean Philippe Blanpain’s Vismara 62 Leaps&Bound, a boat with an all-Italian crew, won the Racing division while also winning IRC handicap among the best performing boats in the fleet. Leaps&Bound was also involved in the search for the missing sailor, in social media accounts crew members paid tribute to Dag Eresund. On the other hand, Alessandro Fabbri’s Swan 75 FD Maimai won the overall Cruising category, as well as Cruising A, as the true dominator of the fleet. More success also on the multihull front, where Bellamossa, Massimo and Flavia Guardigli’s C-Cat 38, also completed its “effort,” taking second place in the Multihull B division. The first boat to cross the finish line in the ARC was Ghada Borsum’s Southern Wind 105 No Rush, the eve’s favorite for the line of honor, which took first place overall out of the 140 boats that started. No Rush took 12 days to cover the 3,000-mile course.
