The market for multihulls is evolving, with proposals suitable for a variety of uses and with a major growth in the quality and style of two-hulled production. It is not only style and quality that are growing, however, because performance also matters, more and more, and the owner of a catamaran today wants to have fun at the helm and really sail.
Catamarans are getting better and better performance
While the demand for “seaside villas”-especially for the charter sector-does not let up (just look at the new flagships from the leading charter yards, such as the Bali 5.8 or the Lagoon Eighty 2…), there is also a push toward the templates plus shipowners where, the comfort of a two (or three) hull is matched by good sailing performance, the kind that allows you to have fun at the helm and, why not, take some satisfaction in one of the many “long distance” regattas (ARC, Aegean 600, RORC Caribbean 600 to name a few) that are the dream of many owners. C-Catamarans, Rapido Trimarans, Windelo, Excess up to the “extreme” cases of the Persian Cat 72: there is a more than alive market for performance multihulls and we are sure that in the coming years the phenomenon will be further growing.
