VELA Cup Liguria (May 2-4)

The first stop of the 2025 VELA Cup season (May 2-4, race on May 3) is in Chiavari, in the heart of the Gulf of Tigullio, in one of the gulfs the whole world envies us. A “must” stop for all boat owners in the northern and central Tyrrhenian Sea. The route in Tigullio will make you enjoy and appreciate from the sea the Gulf and its pearls (such as Portofino). Once ashore, there is more than just the quayside party at Marina di Chiavari – Calata Ovest, there is Chiavari to explore: a town rich in history, museums and culture. A place on a human scale, enjoy a stroll through its historic center: Piazza Mazzini and the Caruggio Dritto, the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Vegetable Garden and the Church of St. John the Baptist are just a few of the beauties of this suburb. We’ll be waiting for you at the dock.

The Quercetano Bay, the Marradi pine forest, the Pasquini Castle in Castiglioncello. The historic center, the Fortress, the National Archaeological Museum in Rosignano. All these attractions ashore accompanied by platters of Tuscan food and wine galore await you. In this leg of the VELA Cup 2025 we sail starting from the Marina Cala de’ Medici and, after the regatta, for those who want to go a little further and disconnect after the umpteenth gybe, there is the Leghorn Mountains Nature Reserve and the Magona maquis to visit, which, at this time of year, late spring, offer exceptional colors and landscapes.

The third leg of the VELA Cup 2025 (May 30-June 1, race on May 31) takes you sailing off the prestigious Brindisi beaches of Punta Penne and Torre Testa, in the waters of Salento. Brindisi, the “Gateway to the East,” is sure to captivate you with its beauty: the natural harbor, the historic Terminal Column of the Via Appia, the portico of the Knights Templar, and the many Romanesque sites including the Church of Santa Maria del Casale. Between turns, don’t miss the Cathedral and the Church of San Giovanni al Sepolcro. Discover with us the Salento, easily accessible beaches and, on land, some of our country’s best cuisine. See you at the Marina di Brindisi and, once the event is over after this leg of the VELA Cup 2025, enjoy the party and stroll with us on the city’s beautiful waterfront.

In one of the most enchanting and unspoiled places, the Marina of Porto Rafael.

A brand new stop is added to the VELA Cup circuit: Porto Rafael and Palau

A small harbor of rare beauty set among huge granite rocks eroded and shaped by the wind and adorned with myrtle, arbutus and wild olive. But there is more. The regatta will parade in front of the Gulf of Palau. A true paradise for sailors, capable of providing unique and unforgettable emotions with each sea outing. The party at sea, in pure VELA Cup spirit, is accompanied by the big party on the dock with the awards ceremony, music, drinks, food. We are waiting for you for this wonderful “premiere”!

VELA Cup Procida, Campania (Sept. 26-28)

The Marina of Procida will host us for this penultimate leg of the VELA Cup 2025 (Sept. 26-28, race on Sept. 27). An island of sailors and the Italian Capital of Culture 2022, Procida is enveloped by an ever-clear blue sea and is easily reached by ferry and hydrofoil from Naples in addition to its own boat. The island offers not only natural excellences such as the Pozzo Vecchio beach (which is the one in Troisi’s film “Il Postino”) or Chiaiolella beach. Procida is place is dense with history, traditions, museums and culture that, at this time of year (in September) can be experienced without the crowds that fill the island during the summer. We recommend everyone to take a tour to the highest point of Procida which is the fortified center of Terra Murata and, from here, enjoy the view of the Gulf of Naples after participating in the VELA Cup 2025.

VELA Cup Sicily (Oct. 3-5)

The sailing tour of Italy is not complete without a stop in Sicily. While in the north, fall and cold weather begin to set in, we escape to the warmth. Capo D’Orlando Marina, will host us for the last leg of the VELA Cup 2025 (Oct. 3-5, race on Oct. 4). Capo d’Orlando is a magical place, just a breath away from the fascinating Aeolian Islands it is strategically located to see, not only this archipelago, but also Cefalù and the beautiful Milazzo which are just a few miles away. To enjoy a time on a boat, in the late summer, this leg of the VELA Cup is a perfect opportunity. The delightful town with its cultural richness: the Museo del Mare, Villa Piccolo, the Church of Santa Maria degli Angeli deserves more than a weekend.

The Aeolian Islands, a stone’s throw from Capo d’Orlando Marina are an archipelago that boasts, in a small space, an unparalleled naturalistic difference.
