After making headlines last summer for “the Bayesian affair,” the Marina di Carrara shipyard Perini Navi presents its next superyacht, which will be called Katana. It is one of the most extraordinary achievements of this historic shipyard, a sailing superyacht designed for elegance, performance and comfort and that will be a benchmark in high-end yachting. Developed in collaboration with naval architect Ron Holland, the Katana is designed to offer a unique sailing experience where safety, comfort and performance are the absolute stars. Launched in recent days, she will be delivered to her owner in early 2025.
A Comfortable and Performing Superyacht
The Perini Navi Katana is a ketch and not only catches the eye for her beauty and majesty, but she is also for offering uncompromising performance. At 60 meters long and 11 meters wide, Katana is one of the most sophisticated sailboats ever built. Sleek lines, modern design, and the use of state-of-the-art materials allow this yacht to sail in calm waters or face the open sea with extreme stability and safety in any situation, thanks in part to a state-of-the-art dynamic positioning system, through which the yacht is able to independently maintain its position and direction without the use of an anchor.
How it is constructed
Katana has the aluminum hull and a displacement of about 570 tons and is equipped with carbon fiber masts, boom and rigging to ensure lightness and strength. The sails are designed to maximize performance in all types of wind, thanks to the introduction of an electronic control system that allows them to be adjusted with ease. The hybrid propulsion system, which combines engines and sails, offers exceptional range and reduced environmental impact.
If Katana’s exterior is a technical marvel, theinterior is equally impressive; designed by renowned French designer Remi Tessier, below deck you have a mix of modernity and tradition designed for the luxury and comfort needs of the most demanding owners. The owner’s area and the five guest cabins are characterized by understated elegance, where every detail is designed to ensure maximum comfort. Katana has several entertainment areas, including a salon with state-of-the-art audio-video system and an outdoor area with swimming pool, sunbeds and a bar area. Perini Navi has always combined traditional craftsmanship and technological innovation in its constructions, and this yacht is no exception; every detail of her construction is the result of years of experience in the design and construction of superyachts, which have allowed the shipyard to perfect every aspect of the boat.
Perini Navi and the launching of Katana
