Mets in Amsterdam is the most important event for the world of nautical accessories. We were there again this year, and we wandered through the many booths and pavilions in search of the goodies and innovations presented on the market. These are not only new technologies, but also accessories that have always existed in a certain form, and are being revised with innovative applications. One example? The three-piece “detachable” anchor that practically takes up no space when not in use. Or the chair that attaches to the winch-in the hole where the handle fits-and folds down for storage wherever you like. Another idea is the fender that is flat when closed, cylindrical when assembled, conveniently and quickly, to take up very little space when you pick it up on board. We share with you in installments the best of what we saw at the show: our tips for renovating your sailboat.
RSW Wired – Raymarine

Raymarine’s new RSW Wired wind sensor provides accurate data on wind speed and direction. With advanced sensors, such as the 3D motion sensor that reads the boat’s movements, it improves the accuracy of the data provided on actual wind.

RP Switch Lead

The best inventions are often the ones that make you exclaim: Why hadn’t anyone thought of this yet? This rope loop allows you to change the line without having to run it through the end. Just open the block to replace the line in a snap and keep the deck neat at all times.

Cool Cap Bump Shell – Forward WIP

Ideal for sport sailors and those who participate in certain water sports, this accessory combines the safety of a helmet with the practicality of a cap. It protects from impacts but also from sun and UV rays in a very functional way. It closes under the chin by joining the flaps that go around the ears.

Deck Safety Shoe – Toio

To the classic boat shoes, Toio has added several reinforcements to present the first “accident prevention” boat shoe. In addition to reinforcements on the sole, which has been raised, the shoe has a reinforcement on the toe thanks to a fiberglass surface that protects the toes from bumps and impacts.

X Fender

Several manufacturers over the years have tried to redefine the shape of such a bulky accessory as the fender. X Fender interprets it this way: a collapsible, airless surface that takes up little space when flat, and takes on a cylindrical shape when rolled up and closed to perform its function as a fender.

Ankerplex

No, this is not a Lego model to build and keep on the shelf: it is a real assemblable anchor. In less than a minute it assembles, and is ready to be thrown into the water. Ideal as a spare anchor.

TeamO – Offshore 150N Hi-Lift Lifejacket & Harness

This life jacket aims to solve the problem of water running over the mouth in water emergency situations. Its shape inflates the lower part of the float more, holding the wearer’s head higher.

From Norway comes the winch chair. It is a folding seat with a pin that attaches to the winch where you put the handle. Perfect for relaxing in the roadstead, or for fishing in the boat!
