Sail GP, here’s the Italian team: Spithill or Tita at the helm and there’s plenty of Luna Rossa

The 2024-2025 Sail GP season kicks off in Dubai, with the regattas to be held on November 23 and 24. The circuit will still be contested with F50 foiler catamarans, former America’s Cup boats (2017 edition). There are 12 teams at the start, and among them is a big surprise: the Red Bull Italy SailGP Team, captained by James Spithill in the role of CEO. There will also be a lot of Luna Rossa in the team, with Ruggero Tita as a possible helmsman , plus Giulia Fava and Andrea Tesei. Also completing the roster will be Kyle Langford, three-time SailGP champion, Australia’s Alex Sinclair and still from Luna rossa grinders Matteo Celon and
Enrico Voltolini. In short, an all-star team for a star-studded season.
Team and schedule
Red Bull Italy Sail GP Team will be in good company, as they will have to contend with crews from Australia, Switzerland, Brazil, Grand Britain, Germany, Canada, France, Spain, Denmark, New Zealand and the United States. Crews where there will be a number of America’s Cup protagonists, starting with several members of Britannia and Team New Zealand, the protagonists of the Barcelona final. After Dubai it’s back to Auckland on January 18 and 19; Sydney February 8 and 9; Los Angeles March 15 and 16; and San Francisco March 22 and 23, before returning to Europe on July 19 and 20. It then continues with Sassinz on August 16 and 17, Taranto September 6 and 7, Geneva September 20 and 21, Cadiz October 4 and 5, with another location for November 7 and 8, 2025 yet to be announced, and the finale scheduled for Abu Dhabi November 29 and 30.
