After descending the Adriatic, the fleet of 10 Bènèteau Figaro 3 protagonists in the “Marina Militare Nastro Rosa Veloce 2024,” a 1,492-mile non-stop regatta, is about halfway through and sailing compactly in the Tyrrhenian Sea. Who will win at the finish line in Genoa?

What is going on these hours in the Mediterranean is a real battle between the best exponents of offshore sailing. We are talking about the “Marina Militare Nastro Rosa Veloce 2024,” the longest regatta in the Mediterranean, organized by Difesa Servizi in collaboration with the Navy and SSI Sport & Events. Departing from Venice last Nov. 3, the 10-boat One Design Bènèteau Figaro 3 fleet is already off the coast of Calabria where Gate 4 is positioned. This means that it has now passed the halfway point of this beautiful 1,492-mile non-stop offshore race that will close on the finish line in Genoa after circumnavigating the Italian coast. Compact fleet and compelling head-to-head

In the first part of the regatta, with Team City of Genoa in the lead, the boats sailed fairly compactly, all with carrying gaits and engaging overtaking. In fact, most of the crews made the most of rather favorable marine weather conditions. At this point, the next miles will surely reserve other emotions and the tactical choices of the skippers will be crucial to overcome a challenging sea stretch such as the Strait of Sicily and then sail up the whole Tyrrhenian Sea. One of the goals of all the protagonists of the “Marina Militare Nastro Rosa Veloce 2024” is definitely to chase and maybe break the record of the race, which, let’s remember, is the one set in 2021 of 8 days, 8 hours and 37 minutes. But above all to win the final victory and the rich prize money of as much as 50,000 euros. Difficult at the moment to make predictions about who will win this exhilarating challenge. All that remains is to follow it all in one breath….
