Echo Yachts is Australia’s largest builder of 100 percent customized superyachts and also a specialist in refitting, maintenance and repair. At its headquarters at the Australian Marine Complex, 23 kilometers south of the town of Perth, it began the construction of an incredible aluminum catamaran, the largest ever produced.
ASC57, the world’s largest catamaran
TheASC57, that’s the name of the 57-meter-long future giant of the seas, was designed by Dykstra Naval Architects with technical support from Australian experts at One2Three Naval Architects.
The Echo Yachts ASC57 will have a schooner rig and Southern Spars’ Dynarig sails will be mounted on horizontal spars, have fully automated drive and a sail area of 1,660 square meters.
A powerful zero-impact power generation system will be installed to optimize energy management and ensure that everything on board is powered by clean electricity, impacting the environment as little as possible. The ASC57 will employ twin-shaft generators and a battery storage system for silent operation while sailing.
Ihe Echo Yachts system is dotate CPP transmission, which allows the use of main engines without requiring separate generators to power them while underway. Composed of hydrodynamically efficient aluminum hulls, ASC57 aims to provide an environmentally friendly approach to recreational boating.
Also the helicopter landing strip
On board, the manufacturer Echo Yachts promises luxury worthy of the superyacht M/Y Charley 2, a 56-meter motor catamaran launched by the same shipyard in 2023; there will also be a wide range of entertainment for guests and owner on the ASC57 (the list of available “water toys” is not yet known), who will be given logistical support (also) by a helicopter: in fact, an airstrip is also planned on the upper deck.
“Echo Yachts is extremely excited and proud to have been selected to custom build this magnificent catamaran sail,” said owner and shipyard director Mark Stothard, who closes, “This new superyacht will truly elevate the term ‘green superyacht’ with its low-drag double hull shape, sail propulsion capability, and other harmful emission reduction technologies.”
