We are almost there, we are now just over a week away from the start of the Vendée Globe, the legendary round-the-world race without stopovers and assistance, over 25 thousand miles non-stop on the Imoca 60. So it is time to tell you how the Sailing Newspaper will follow the round-the-world race. In the wake of the success of The Trial of the Cup, The Trial of the Vendée Globe is born, a talk with an oceanic flavor live on our YouTube and Facebook channels, in “GDV style,” hosted by Mauro Giuffrè and Luca Sordelli. We will try, as always, to combine an account of the regatta that is as clear as possible and open to all enthusiasts, with more technical insights, where we will discover the characteristics of the Imoca 60s and go over how strategy is developed in an ocean race like the Vende Globe that, for the very first ones, will last no less than 70 days.
How will the team of The Trial at the Vendée Globe be composed? We will reveal it to you very shortly, in the meantime we give you some clues. The parterre of ocean sailors who will comment during our broadcast will include: one round-the-world crewed sailing victory, two Mini Transat victories, one Class 40 Absolute Championship, one Transat Jacques Vabre, and many more. Don’t miss in the coming days on our channels updates on the Vendée Globe Trial, with the names of all the guests who will keep us company for at least 3 months.
From when. We start on November 7, in collaboration with Raymarine, with the regatta preview episode. We will have links from Les Sables d’Olonne, and we will also be back on the air on Sunday the 10th shortly after the start of the Vendée Globe to analyze the first scenarios with the fleet engaged in the Bay of Biscay. It will be a long journey, around the world, with the goal of also bringing ocean sailing at the highest level into the homes of our readers.
So don’t miss the upcoming news on The Vendée Globe Trial, where we will outline the entire program and definitively reveal the faces of the sailors who will keep you company in the coming months.
