Recent boat shows have presented the public with all the new sailboats that brands have been working on; in the first installment of our market survey, we presented you with new sailboats up to 12.50 meters in length. Today we go further, up to 15.40 meters, with sailboats of various types, cruisers and more.
Sailboats: 12.99 m – Excess 13
The Excess 13 will be the new addition to the catamaran range of the French shipyard that is part of the Beneteau Group. The design this time has been entrusted to Studio Lombard, with the task of maintaining the family feeling of the range that until
t has now been by VPLP and Patrick Le Quément. We could call it a “minimalist” catamaran in some respects; in fact, the designers worked to reduce weight, with the goal of making the boat agile to sail and not just comfortable. There are many clever solutions: from rainwater recovery to doors that cover the closets.
Type: Cruiser
L.f.t.: 12.99 m; w.w.: 7.25 m; draught: 1.48 m; displacement: 10.60 t; zav: -; sup. vel. 115/124 sq.m; berths: 6-12;
13.10 m – Dufour 44
Designed by Felci Yacht Design, the Dufour 44 presents itself as a hull with important volumes, kept streamlined and slender, however, thanks to various design solutions of aesthetic value, yes, but also functional. To take full advantage of the volumes, and the 4.45-meter beam, on the other hand, the deck and cockpit are particularly spacious and follow both lessons in ergonomics and rational and functional approaches to short-handed sailing, offering, at the same time, capacious and spacious interiors, strong with 4 different layout options, for varying numbers of cabins and berths. On the latter juncture, the signature “interior,” however, is by Ardizio Design.
Type: Cruiser
L.f.t.: 13.10 m; w.: 4.45 m; draught: 2.20 m; displ.: 10.20 t; zav: 2.85 t; sup. vel. 100 sq.m; berths: 6-8; base price: €356,400.
14.56 m – ClubSwan 43
The Finnish shipyard has launched the first hull of the new Juan K signature One Design, there is a certain family feeling with the Club Swan 50, for a range of monotypes that now includes, in addition to the Club Swan 43, the 28 and the 80. The ClubSwan 43 is primarily geared toward the world of racing, however, it is presented with a minimum of interior fittings in the event that it wants to be used for sport cruising as well.
Along with performance, however, there is also a focus on habitability, trying to embody the “sport-cruiser” soul that several owners seek on boats of this size.
Type: Sport Boat
L.f.t.: 14.56 m; w.: 4.25 m; draught: 2.40 m; displacement: 7.80 t; zav: -; sup. vel. 118 sq. m; berths: 6-8
Sailboats – 15.14 m – Elan GT6X
The Elan GT6, where GT stands for Gran Turismo, is a workhorse of the Slovenian shipyard, and brings with it a bit of automotive design: it’s that of Porsche (Studio F.A. Porsche), which together with designer Rob Humphreys created this unique boat. A few years after its launch Elan decided to launch the GT6 Explorer, a blue water evolution of the original design.
There are several new features, such as a second forestay, set further back, which will house a foresail equipped with a rail to use it as an auto tack. The main jib, on the other hand, will have another pair of rails for adjusting the sail sheet point. The GT6 Explorer has a large fuel tank capacity of 500 liters.
Type: Cruiser
L.f.t.: 15.14 m; w.: 4.49 m; draught: 1.99/2.45 m; displacement: 13.34 t; zav: 3.9 t; sup. vel. 114 sq. m; berths: 6-8;
15.42 m – Moody 48 DS
The design of the Moody 48 DS is by Bill Dixon, who has conceived a boat that the shipyard itself describes as a “monohull,” that is, a monohull with some features typical of cruising catamarans. The panoramic deckhouse, the covered aft cockpit connected to the interior dinettevia a single level, and the forward cockpit in front of the mast are some of the features that link this boat to the cat.
The acronym DS stands for deck saloon, or panoramic dinette: this is on the same level as the aft cockpit, raised to remain on the same height as the deckhouse windows. To access the forward rooms, however, there are steps down to the forward cabin, which is on a lower level.
Type: Cruiser
