DG 5.5

The French shipyard Bagou Boats, based in Brittany, which until now has specialized in the production of motor boats, has presented the concept of a small sailboat that will be added to its range. We are talking about the DG 5.5, a boat with a rather unique concept.

DG 5.5 – For small-scale boating.

At 5.5 long, 2.50 wide, the DG 5.5 will feature a Scow bow and a modular bow configuration. In fact, the shipyard envisions a kind of front superstructure that will act as a deckhouse, but removable, to be used in case of nautical camping. In its absence, the bow area will be a comfortable sundeck, taking advantage of the width of the scow.

The version with a deckhouse

Otherwise, the boat has a hull reminiscent of that of the Mini 6.50, with a fairly constant width, two rudders, and a retractable keel to make it dock even in shallow water. It weighs only 380 kg, with just under 100 in ballast, will be trailerable, and has a starting price of 33 thousand euros. An attractive proposition for coastal cruising, day trips, or weekend boating camping for those who want a small, easily manageable boat.
