NLComp has been included among the finalists for the coveted World Sailing Technology Award, an award organized by the International Sailing Federation to celebrate design, innovation and technological progress applied to the sailing world. The Monfalcone-based company, known for its work in the field of innovative materials, has distinguished itself over the years for several projects related to sustainability in sailing, which led to its nomination in the years 2020 (with the Ecodinghy project), 2021 (with Ecoracer 25) and 2023 (finalist project, with the eco-friendly sportboat Ecoracer 30) for the World Sailing Sustainability Award.

NLComp ‘s “mission” and challenge is to study next-generation materials, which yes have a batto environmental impact during their entire life cycle (from production to end of life) but without compromising performance, which especially in the racing world is obviously number one.

Composite named among technologies of the year

This year, however, it is the Technology Award that sees NLComp featured among the nominations. It is always the innovative materials developed for boating by the company that are under the International Federation’s magnifying glass, especially for their recyclability and sustainability characteristics. In particular, it was rComposite, the thermoplastic composite that uses low-impact raw materials, that earned NLComp a nomination for the World Sailing Technology Awards. “We are honored to be shortlisted for the World Sailing Technology Award. This recognition confirms the value of our approach and reinforces our mission to bring positive change to the sailing industry and beyond,” said Fabio Bignolini, co-founder and CEO of nlcomp. “We will be announcing new steps in our project in the sailing industry next month as part of the Yacht Racing Forum in Amsterdam.” We will find out the winners of the World Sailing Awards on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 during the awards ceremony to be held in Singapore at Chijmes Hall.
