Everyone was waiting for his comment, his stance, it came 24 hours after the final lost to Britannia and, as often happens, it is not trivial: Patrizio Bertelli from Barcelona, meeting the Italian press at Luna Rossa’s base, has already drawn the lines of the new Luna Rossa. And it will be a revolution, at least in the sailing team. The owner from Arezzo has already dictated the way: the new helmsmen will be Ruggero Tita, Marco Gradoni and Gianluigi Ugolini, they will play the wheels of the Luna Rossa of the future in three.
Francesco Bruni will have a coaching role.
On Spithill, Bertelli has not been outspoken, almost suggesting that the matter is not entirely closed, perhaps for another role. Max Sirena has been reconfirmed as head of the team, and the crew will not waste any time; as early as Wednesday the Italian AC 75 will be on the water with new helmsmen.
In fact, the idea is not to waste a single day of time, also because the team has not yet broken ranks, and the opportunity to still have everyone full for AC 75 is perfect to immediately project forward with the first training sessions of what will be the future crew. It was a strong stance that seemed almost urgent, as if Patrizio Bertelli had badly digested the dynamics by which the defeat against Ineos Britannia came about and wanted to immediately draw a line.
The new Luna has already been born in Barcelona. Mauro Giuffrè
