2024 Genoa International Boat Show hosted, for the fifth edition, the Design Innovation Award, the recognition established by Confindustria Nautica and I Saloni Nautici that celebrates design excellence in the boating industry.
This year, the focus was on innovation, sustainability and aesthetic-functional quality.
In this article, we present the winners of the different categories, which stood out for their ability to combine sophisticated design and cutting-edge technology.
Here are the award-winning projects, which were chosen by an independent jury consisting of leading national and international experts from different fields.
Members include professional designers, specialized journalists, university researchers, shipowners, and representatives of bodies and institutions in the nautical industry, thus ensuring an evaluation with varied and comprehensive perspectives.
Sailboats – Up to 14 m
In the category of sailboats up to 14 meters, the Dufour 44 from Dufour Yachts triumphed.
Here is the motivation: bold design with a revised spacious interior, achieved by rebalancing proportions.
Design Innovation Award – Sailing boats – Over 14 m
Among sailboats over 14 meters in length, Y Yachts’Y8 was awarded the prize.
What convinced the jury was the “refined elegance of the interior and exterior, with special attention to detail.”
Multihulls
It was Lagoon Catamarans’ Lagoon 60 that came out on top among the multihulls, as “a catamaran with character, a fluid lay-out, conveying calm and confidence.”
Marine accessories and equipment
Among nautical accessories and equipment, a category that really encompasses so many different types of products, a pair of electric outboard motors was awarded this year, with Mercury Marine’s Mercury Avator 75 and 110, as “a stylishly designed product that indicates the future vision for propulsion.”

Design Innovation Award – Electronics and on-board software
Among the products dedicated to electronics and onboard software, Raymarine‘s Alpha brand racing display won .
The jury awarded it as a “highly intuitive graphical display in an elegant form.”
Innovation Award
The major award for the most innovative product was won by Musto‘s MPX Impact oilskin .
Awarded for its “unique and revolutionary design that looks beyond conventional solutions, using innovative materials and methods to protect against impacts typical of ocean sailing.”
Lifetime Achievement Award
The Solaris Yachts shipyard returns home after Genoa with an important award.
The Design Innovation Award Steering Committee decided to award the Special Lifetime Achievement Award, celebrating the shipyard’s 50th anniversary, for its continued commitment to design and innovation.
