Fresh off its unveiling at the Cannes Boat Show, the new Fountaine Pajot 41 catamaran (11.93 x 6.92 m) does not yet have a name (New 41 the “technical” designation), but we already know a lot about it.
New Fountaine Pajot 41 (11.93 m)
It will replace the smaller Isla 40, will be available in a “Smart Electric” version, with electric motorization (as was already the case for the Astrea 42, Elba 45 and Aura 51), and was designed once again by the Berret Racoupeau studio, already the creator of the range of the French shipyard that is part of Dufour.
Design and deck
On catamarans that are all things considered small, and that can be used for both a coastal weekend and in a “bluewater” configuration, design is critical.
That is why designers have strived to maximize horizontal lines to create a sleek effect proper to boats of larger square footage by optimizing volume and space.
The deck layout incorporates the XXL helmsman and raised maneuvering station already appreciated on all the other models in the range: the skipper has at his disposal a pod that houses all the instruments.
Guests will have no difficulty in relaxing: loungers on the bimini, forward of the canopy, not forgetting the “smart” lounger built into the port transom. As for the spaces on board, every area has been designed with comfort in mind.
The three-window saloon opens completely to the aft cockpit.
A large opening panel serves as a service hatch between the galley and the forward salon.
Fountaine Pajot 41 – Interior
We come to the various available interior layouts, one of the strengths of the Fountaine Pajot 41.
The “Maestro 2” owner’s version counts on a master cabin with ensuite bathroom in the port hull, two double cabins and a bathroom on the starboard one. The “Maestro 3” version differs in having the two private bathrooms for the guest cabins in the starboard hull.
The “Quatour 2” and “Quatuor 4” versions are evidently aimed at the charter world: the former has four cabins (two per hull) served by two bathrooms, the latter four cabins and four bathrooms. What does not change in any of the configurations is the decksaloon with galley and C-shaped sofa that opens seamlessly onto the aft cockpit.
The Electric Version
As we anticipated, the new Founatine Pajot 41 will be available in a “Smart Electric” version.
Should you opt for the electric version, how does the configuration change?
Away with the endothermic engines, in their place two 25 kW electric thrusters, supported by two 2×21 kWh batteries and a 16 kW generator (and a 3kW inverter).
The propellers of the engines, while sailing, become hydrogenerators. To extend the electric cruising range, two 27 kWh batteries, two 3kW chargers, and an additional 6 kW inverter to add to the 3 kW inverter are available as options.
The price of the new Fountaine Pajot 41, which will be launched in 2025, is not yet available.
