sun isbackover Barcelona for the Louis Vuitton Cup, and with it the thermal breeze from the southwest, not strong but sufficient.
Racing with 8-10 knots of wind, enjoyable, with the AC 75s improving day by day in performance.
American Magic wins hard against Ineos Britannia, in contrast to the Kiwis, who instead beat the Brits decisively.
Luna Rossa continues to shine, still perfect in Barcelona’s light wind.
Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli vs Orient Express Racing Team
Left tack Luna Rossa, starboard Orient Express, with the French immediately trying to be aggressive from the first crossing.
They position themselves very high and then try to accelerate towards Luna by leaning, but they immediately make a mistake, touching the boundary and falling off the foils.
Luna Rossa defends high and both boats come off the line.
Start ultimately won by Luna, which takes advantage of the French mistake and keeps them off the start. Very similar speeds of the two boats, however, with the French seeming to have a good pace in light winds.
Bruni and Spithill, however, immediately seal the door by tacking repeatedly on the sails of their opponent, who thus fails to produce their speeds.
They are 10 seconds ahead at the first Gate, with Luna Rossa, however, seeming to have more at the start of the stern and stretching.
The lead at the Stern Gate rises to 27 seconds, confirming the Italian boat’s progression. Luna Rossa is in full progression of the lead, which at the next Gate rises to 37”, with the French seeming unable to shorten the gap any longer.
The Italian crew of the rest makes no mistake, going on to easily bring home the point that means mathematical qualification to the semifinals of the Louis Vuitton Cup.
