Two Olympic gold medals in the Nacra 17, four World Championships won, three European Championships, a career that has been stellar, Caterina Banti has announced her retirement from Olympic sailing and comes out a true legend of the sport.

The 37-year-old Roman bowwoman, paired with Ruggero Tita, won everything there was to win and, as she said, the second Olympic gold medal she won in Marseille was the perfect way to crown her career and close it out on a high note.
Caterina Banti, a future still in sailing?
Caterina Banti has a bachelor’s degree from Sapienza University and a master’s degree from Orientale University in Naples in Oriental Languages and Civilization: “I have a lot of ideas in my mind, now it’s time to think about what I will do with my life.
I’m thinking about staying in the sailing world, maybe in another capacity. I would like to give back what I have learned in these years on my skin,” said Banti.
And who knows if in Los Angeles 2028 we won’t see her again anyway maybe in another capacity, in the meantime we can only thank Caterina, for having made Italian sailing great and having made us live some historical, and unforgettable, moments of our sport.
