Everything is ready for the Sardinian VELA Cup super event at the Cala dei Sardi Marina. Among the entries are boats of all kinds. From Classic Boats such as Nicola Filia’s Vélite II, the second hull of 42 Baltic 33s built in 1975 and launched the following year,
Adrenalina, Massimo Morandini’s 1993 Corsair F27 – a VELA Cup regular who has already participated in the Liguria and Tuscany legs this year – or Benedetta Iovane’s very strong 1996 Mumm 30 B-Lex, to boats with few miles on their backs such as JOYA, Pietro Bernardini’s X-56, and Felix III, Fabrizio Scime’s Beneteau Oceanis 46.1, both from 2023.

At the VELA Cup Costa Smeralda there are sailors of all sorts, such as.
Andrew Rippon, who from his The Pirate Myron, a Sobusiak Focus750, writes us ” I have been a sailor since I was 15 years old but have had my own boat for only three years.
I recently participated in the Commodores Cup at the Dubai Offshore Sailing Club for 14 years.
Before that I participated in the Formenton and the Giraglia a couple of times.
The Pirate is a boat designed for light winds but we have three reefing hands and have been going out around the Maddalena Islands for three years.

There are sport crews, who want to use spi, gennaker and code 0, and race in the Sport Boat category, such as Enigma, Enea Giacomo Mansutti’s Solaris 50.2, and crews who just want to have fun, even white-sailing in the Cruising Boat category, such as Giuffredo, Salvatore Ruggero Ruggeri’s Beneteau Oceanis 411, who is also looking for crew!
