VELA Cup’s big party in Cala dei Sardi lasts two days, Aug. 21 and 22

The big VELA Cup Costa Smeralda party in Cala dei Sardi is doubling.
No longer one but two days of celebration, with the regatta at sea on Thursday, August 22, and food and music on both Wednesday and Thursday evenings. A celebration of sailing with lots of prizes, fun and dreamy scenery. A breathtaking course, among the islands of the La Maddalena Archipelago, in front of magnificent beaches on which, when the race is over, to relax and sip ice-cold cocktails while a band plays your favorite tune and the stars light up the night. The VELA Cup Costa Smeralda is the Sailing Newspaper’s big summer party you can’t miss.
It’s an event that brings together many different types of sailing enthusiasts, including thoroughbred skippers and superstar cabin cruisers, all united by being truly passionate cruising sailors.
This year we wanted to make it even richer.
Not one but two evenings of celebration, with even the night before the regatta a concert (by invitation only to VELA Cup members) at Sky Frontemare with live music by The Wave lineup.

Wednesday, August 21

4 p.m. – Registration secretariat opening, bag pickup, instructions and stickers at the Cala dei Sardi Marina.
9 p.m. – After dinner show at Sky Frontemare, the lounge at Cala dei Sardi Marina, with live music by The Wave lineup.

Thursday, August 22

9:30 a.m. – Skippers’ meeting. 11:00 a.m. – First starting signal. 7:00 p.m. – VELA Cup Costa Smeralda awards ceremony at Marina di Cala dei Sardi
8 p.m. – Buffet dinner at the Yacht Club Cala dei Sardi space, followed by an evening at Sky Frontemare

Marina Cala dei Sardi is the base for the VELA Cup Costa Smeralda

The Gulf of Cugnana, between Portisco and Porto Rotondo, is a true natural harbor sheltered from the strong winds that characterize the area.
