Planing at over 10 knots, with only two crew members, without stress and with great ease of handling, we could sum up in this way our experience on the Junda K II , the new one-design designed by Studio Felci, based on a concept by entrepreneur and sailor Ludovico Fassitelli.
We went to Lake Como, where Junda will be built, to try out this boat whose philosophy brings an interesting novelty to the world of one-designs: the fact that it is designed for a crew of two is in fact unheard of in the current world of keel-rigged one-designs.
The name Junda K II , in the first part is a tribute by Ludovico Fassitelli to his sons, while the abbreviation K II means “Keel” and the 2 stands for crew persons.
The construction is fiberglass, with epoxy, and carbon inserts in some deck details.
Junda’s owner and creator has long experience in one-design racing, but envisioned a boat that would have lower running costs, hence less crew, but without losing the performance and competitiveness typical of one-designs. The sizing of the rigging and its organization, the sail plan, everything is designed for double-handling, a task that is anything but simple if one intends to make a boat that is fast but at the same time easy to steer.
