Salon season is approaching! It will again be the Cannes Yachting Festival, scheduled for Sept. 10-15, 2024, the first event dedicated to boating to be held after the summer. Once again the Vieux Port and Port Canto of the Côte d’Azur town, the locations of the event now in its 47th year, will be transformed into the Cannes stage dedicated to fans of yachts, sailboats, inflatable boats and nautical accessories. There will be no shortage of novelties this year either, and not only on the water.
What’s new at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2024
This year’s Cannes Boat Show promises to be a very special one, with more than 600 exhibitors from around the world showcasing their latest in boats, engines, on-board electronics, accessories and services. Among the big players will be shipyards, which will present their most exclusive and innovative models.
Some 700 boats from 5 to 50 meters in length and more than 160 new and world premieres will be on display in the new 2,000-plus-square-meter marina, which will bring together from the Vieux Port to Port Canto the best of international boating.
The Vieux Port ‘s main entrance will be moved next to the famous Film Festival steps near the Croisette. This change will allow for more space for the tender area.
In addition to new products, the Cannes Yachting Festival will, as always, offer a rich program of side events, including conferences, seminars, demonstrations and water trials. The big news this year is the “Innovation Route” area, which will highlight the best in marine technology including eco-sustainability.
Ticket prices for the show start at €39 for daily admission.
Cannes Yachting Festival: the boats on display
Among the new products and previews on display at the Cannes 2024 Boat Show, these are some of the most anticipated boats.
ICE 66 RS
This is a major project for ICE, born from scratch with a different design team than the other models in the range, as the water lines were entrusted to Farr Studio and the aesthetics and interiors to Micheletti & Partners
Grand Soleil BLUE
The Grand Soleil BLUE is a daysailer/weekender, 9.99 m long and 3.70 m wide, built to be fully recyclable at the end of its life cycle. The boat is designed for weekend sailing, perhaps even staying overnight on board, or for fun day trips.
Lagoon 60
The launch of the 60 represents an important milestone for Lagoon, which celebrates the shipyard’s 40th anniversary in this 2024. Since 1984, the brand has been a major player in the market. A symbol of elegance, comfort and reliability at sea, Lagoon is a world leader in the cruising catamaran industry with just under 7,000 catamarans built
Hanse 590
The design of the boat was entrusted to Berret-Racoupeau, who designed an angular hull at the front, but tried to keep the bow exits streamlined despite a beam that would seem considerable. Technical data on the boat have not yet been released, but from the renders it is apparent that the boat has a pronounced and fairly consistent beam from amidships to the stern, suggesting a large dimette and spacious aft cabins
Gunboat 72
The big new feature of the Gunboat 72 is the flybridge, the upper deck, which has never been seen on this shipyard’s catamarans. Studio VPLP, which designed the cat, made a typical pure cruising choice: an upper deck on which to place the wheelhouses and all the rigging. The four winches, halyard stoppers, large rudder wheel, square top mainsail carriage, everything was placed on the flybridge in order to make the cockpit below completely clear.
