Italian brand Massimo Osti Studio designed a collection to dress ocean sailor Alberto Riva. The five garments that make up the collection, designed in shades of orange, black and gray, can be purchased directly from massimoosti.com. This is what they look like.
Clothing born from a passion for the sea
The collaboration between the brand and Alberto Riva, engaged in these days in the Quebec – Saint Malo, does not only include the creation of a small collection (a Chapter, capsule collection), Massimo Osti Studio in fact joins the sponsors of the sailor from June 2024.
The sea has always been a fundamental element in Massimo Osti’s life, not only as a passion but also as a source of inspiration for his work as a designer. Lorenzo Osti, son of the Bologna-based designer and president of the C.P. Company brand, recalls Massimo’s passion this way, “My father loved the sea and sailing because he could reconnect with his meditative side that didn’t find enough space in his work. He was alone on the boat, thinking and disconnecting from everything else.”
What are the leaders
The five garments that make up Chapter 05 “About Sailing” by Massimo Osti Studio find a jacket and vest made of Satin Rubber, an innovative cotton fabric coated with a polyurethane film and subjected to double garment dyeing; a crewneck sweatshirt and shorts made of cotton; and a pair of ribbed knit gloves made of stretch polyester/nylon and glass fibers.
The full-length zippered jacket has zippered side pockets and a flap and button pocket on the left sleeve, and additional zippered pockets on the inside. The cuffs and some neck protection details are ribbed, while the wrap-around hood protects against even the harshest rain. The “201” print on the heart pays homage to Alberto Riva’s Class40 Acrobatic ITA201.
The sweatshirt also has a detail reminiscent of Riva’s boat, printed on the left sleeve. This is a garment-dyed diagonal weave cotton crewneck sweatshirt with a zipper pocket on the chest and ribbed cuffs and hem.
