Italian shipyard Ice Yachts, which specializes in carbon construction of semi-custom performance cruisers, has launched its latest addition with the launch of the ICE 66 RS. This is a major project for ICE, born from scratch with a different design team than the other models in the range, as the water lines were entrusted to the Farr studio and the aesthetics and interiors to Micheletti & Partners.
ICE 66 RS – What a boat it is
The boat, in its first version, has acarbon glass sandwich construction with a full carbon deck that allows the stiffness of carbon to be combined with the natural vibration (and thus noise) absorption qualities. A full carbon model for speed enthusiasts is already under consideration. The mast, strictly carbon, carries a generous sail plan.
The new ICE 66 RS has a displacement of 25,000 kg, very little considering that it is a 20-meter yacht with a full optional interior. Going below deck we find the raised salon that allows for a lot of space, exploited by the standard 3 cabin + 3 bath layout or the 4 cabin + 4 bath layout with an independent double cabin.
As for the deck, the cockpit located in front of the double helm has two very large seats facing each other, while continuing towards the bow we find the deckhouse almost overflowing (although the salon is raised and very bright) with the rest of the deck plan. Completing the deck’s technical plan are four electric winches that make it easy to keep the maneuvers under control.
The interiors are another feather in the cap of this new project. The large and spacious dinette is extremely bright due to the generous window sizes. The kitchen is open with a central island and features state-of-the-art appliances, large Corian countertops, plenty of storage space, and a wine cellar.
Natural light creates a cozy atmosphere, while the modern and functional design of the kitchen blends harmoniously with the other rooms, all enhanced by light leather-covered panels contrasting with canned walnut essences.
There are 8 beds, divided between master cabin with bathroom and 3 double cabins, all of which have “en suite” bathrooms, plus an additional sleeping place for the crew.
