It is called
Mishi Yachts
and it is a new Turkish ship yard (a brand of Yonca Shipyard, established in 1986) that has made its debut in the sailing world by presenting a 27-meter boat, the Mishi 88. It is a super comfortable cruising boat with a few different solutions from what we are used to seeing on the market. Especially the cockpit, which is really distinctive.
The hull of the Mishi 88 is made of carbon fiber, as is that of its big sister-the Mishi 102-which will be unveiled at the Monaco Yacht Show 2024. The shipyard claims the boat can reach and exceed 10 knots of speed with ease, thanks in part to a generous sail plan (167 sq. m. mainsail). When powered, on the other hand, the boat is capable of a top speed of 11.5 knots, with a cruising speed of 8 knots and range over 1,000 miles.
The cockpit is a veranda of 35 sq. m.
Leading the way on the Mishi 88 is definitely the cockpit. The space has been maximized and made suitable and comfortable for seating 12 people, with protected seating and sofas on all sides and four extendable tables for serving lunches and dinners to guests. Simply pressing a button activates the electro-actuated mechanism that makes the tables disappear, leaving plenty of walkable space to move around.
The area-as large as 35 square meters-is perfectly covered by a hard top (with a panoramic roof) that creates shade while keeping those underneath cool, plus the entire area can be fully enclosed with a 360-degree tarp that integrates with the windshield. Slightly further back is the double rudder wheel, where all maneuvers are deferred “protected” by cockpit with dual controls, wheelhouses, compasses, and 12-inch display. This are is also covered by the hard top and can be closed, keeping those leading the boat protected. On the sides, however, we find four electric winches.
In the bow, between the mast and the cockpit, there is a large central sundeck that can accommodate guests, plus there is an area that can be converted into a second dining area with folding tables and seating. The rest of the deck is almost completely clean.
In the stern, on the other hand, there is plenty of space for a tender garage that can accommodate a 3.5-meter inflatable tender, water toys and other equipment. The swim platform with ladder allows you to get down into the water and back up again in comfort.
The interior of the Mishi 88
The spacious living room introduces us to the interior spaces of the Mishi 88-designed in collaboration with Aylin Örs of ORS Design-where the finishes are highly polished and elegant, with modern and essential lines. Large roof windows flood the room with natural light, creating an airy and comfortable atmosphere. On both sides are two large flat TV screens, which can be concealed with a louvered curtain. The structure of the settees partly replicates that found in the cockpit, with tables and seating to accommodate a maximum of 12 people.
A few steps down from the living room is the kitchen, a veritable realm equipped with ample cooking space, a large refrigerator-freezer, and high-quality appliances. The kitchen is open to the living room but can be closed off for those who wish. In total, the living room space including the kitchen boasts an area of more than 20 square meters.
As for the cabins, we find two twin cabins with single beds aft of the salon, each with private bathroom, a third cabin amidships with a bunk bed, and the large owner’s cabin with a central king-size bed. All four cabins have private bathrooms with separate shower stalls. In the far bow are two bunks to accommodate two crew members.
