Luxury bigwigs in boating

The latest to go public with a stake in the boating world is Toni Belloni, a former board member of luxury giant LVMH, who has a stake (with friends, he says) in a large refit yard in Pisa.

Bernard Arnault

The same LVMH owned by one of the world’s richest men, Bernard Arnault, owns a majority stake in the super/megayacht yard Royal Van Lent and the British powerboat yard Princess.

Also Italian is Cantieri del Pardo (that of Grand Soleil and Pardo Yachts) recently acquired by Sandro Veronesi ‘s Oniverse Group (Calzedonia, Intimissimi, TeZenis, Falconeri, Signorvino…).

Piero Ferrari

Not everyone knows that Piero Ferrari (son of Ferrari’s founder Enzo) is a partner in the Ferretti Group, which in sailing owns the Wally brand.

Vagit Alekperov

Vagit Alekperov, one of Russia’s richest men, owns another megayacht shipyard, Heesen, olotre at Barcelona’s Port Vell port.

Leonardo Ferragamo

But there is also a big luxury name that, instead, is in negotiations to sell. It is Leonardo Ferragamo of the family of the same name who has been in negotiations for months to divest Sanlorenzo (motor yacht) Nautor Swan, as we told you here.
