Will he be the heir to Club Swan 42? This is how the ClubSwan43, Nautor ‘s new monotype that will be tasked with picking up the legacy left by the 42, a highly successful boat still appreciated today, is presented on paper. The Finnish shipyard has launched the first hull of the new Juan K-signed One Design; there is a certain family feeling with the Club Swan 50, for a range of one-designs that now includes, in addition to the Club Swan 43, the 28 and 80.
The ClubSwan 43 will be primarily oriented toward the world of racing, however it is presented with a minimum of interior fittings in the event that it wants to be used for sport cruising as well.
ClubSwan 43 – What will it be like?
The new yacht in the ClubSwan range was designed by Juan Kouyoumdjian, an architect who in recent years has measured himself against very different projects, from the Star class to the America’s Cup, via Imoca 60s and even an Optimist.
It will be a One Design with pure racer vocation, conceived and designed to compete in ORC Cat. B and in several regattas. In fact, Nautor Swan runs several circuits dedicated to its Swan One Design owners, such as the Nations League and the Swan One Design Worlds. Along with performance, however, there will also be a focus on habitability, seeking to embody the “sport-cruiser” soul that several owners seek on boats of this size. It will certainly be a fast and competitive boat, where practicality and comfort are the watchwords as far as the interior is concerned.
A top-notch team of professionals was involved in the ClubSwan 43 project, featuring New Zealand firm Pure Design & Engineering and Lucio Micheletti (Micheletti+Partners) for interior design.
