More than 300 sailboats and powerboats (almost all in the water) and more than 270 shipyards and companies from the boating world are on display at the Venice Boat Show. We are also here in the waters of the Arsenale, where the fifth edition opened its doors on May 30 and will close them on Sunday, June 2, to tell you what boats you can visit along the docks of the Venetian event.
In the 55,000 square meters of water basins, along 1,100 linear meters of piers and inside the 30,000 square meters of exhibition space, hosting the event we find a great many domestic (80 percent) and international (20 percent) shipyards with a wide representation of sailing and motor boating. Standing out above them all is the figure of sustainable boats, with more than 50 exhibited along a dedicated pier (the P2 north pier) with many new boats equipped with alternative propulsion: electric, hybrid and hydrogen, with traditional hulls and equipped with foils. The emphasis devoted to sustainability well represents a trend that is gaining momentum, as much in motor boating as in sailing(for example, with the many new electric outboards to power the dinghy). The environment also features prominently in the many in-depth panels, symposia and talk shows that make up the schedule of events scheduled at the Venice Show.
What’s new in 2024
There is also an entire area dedicated to water sports at the Venice Boat Show, that of the Middle Carenage Basin. There is eye candy here with watertoys and boards (also electrified, recharged thanks to floating photovoltaic panels installed in the dock) including sup, surf and electric foils that can also be tried out in the water. New this year is the Wood Village, an area entirely dedicated to wooden (motor) boats built by Venetian shipyards using techniques and tools from the historic craft tradition. A total of 20 boats made by the Giovanni Da Ponte, Falegnameria Artigiana Pesce, Andrea Zane, Serenella, Crosera, Dalla Pietà Wooden Boat Cultural Association, and Venmar shipyards are on display.
